Aquaculture Ponds

The conversion of mangroves into aquaculture ponds at Khatib Bongsu and Pulau Ubin resulted in the loss of mangroves ¹⁰⁸. Aquaculture can pollute the water near the mangroves with excess nutrients and fecal matter from the farmed fish.
